This is a reminder first to myself, and to my dear girlfriends who shared lunch with me at Browniz yesterday. Maybe we shouldn't have tossed that pizza afterall?

- For those of you curious enough to know… I am an expat married to an Omani, who has been living in Salalah long enough to appreciate and admire the culture but not long enough to willingly eat camel or wear a pom pom. Our decision to leave the luxuries of ‘home’ was made in hopes of finding contentment in the simple things in life. I have grown to truly love and respect the people here, their traditional values and conservative lifestyle. At times though, I am a fish out of water.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this message with us. I volunteer in a cafeteria and the amount of wasted food every day is incredible. I don't know the situation in Salalah but if we could just eat what we put on our plates and remember that so many people are starving, perhaps we would live in a better world.
I am sharing this link with many people I know, who also work in the food business and would appreciate this.

I can tell u so many times that food goes to the trash that is fine to eat. all of the humanity is wasteful specially these days. walla this is very sad. allah made food for provison and we make ramadan every year to understand what it means to stay hungary. in salalah the workers like indians sri lanka can use so much food. please do not throw away your food in browniz rania please.

I haved been working in Khasab , Musandam in a tourism company from the last 4 yrs and i feld in love with an omani. is a relation from 4 yrs( in 15 july we celebrate)and we want to get married. we went to Muscat but they told us , no is impossible. Omany are not allowed to married to an expatriat. Im know working in Dubai, also tourism.Im asking everybody and they told me is nt possible, you need to have wasta.
what I have to do?Is a simple man, captain of a dhow in Khasab, Im ready to live in Oman forever.I love Oman, I love Khasab, I love him.
Can you give me a tip?
Also I want to come to Salalah in July for 2-3 days.Do you know a place where we can camp or is allowed to camp in Salalah? Or any budget accomodation?

It's so sad, there really is enough food to go round for everyone in the world, Some people have so much food, so much choices and ultimately so much waste, and others barely choose what they eat, they are grateful for the little amount of food they get. i wish it didn't have to be like this, and unfortunately whether we choose to finish all of whats on our plates, or throw out our un-eaten food, it still has little effect on the misfortunate :(.
